The East Texas Art League is pleased to present a fine art photography exhibit featuring four very talented Texas photographers: Jerry Craven of Temple; Sam Keith of Warren and Colorado; Robert Stringer of Jasper, and Ken Weaver of Woodville and Colorado. The exhibit will open with a public reception for the photographers to be held Saturday, April 3rd from 2-4pm at the East Texas Regional Arts Center, 364 North Austin St. in Jasper. The photographs will be on display until May 8th.
“This is the first professional photography exhibition we have had at the Arts Center,” said gallery director Tina Barrow. “Each photographer is highly skilled and has a unique style. It promises to be a wonderful show and we’d like to invite the community to the reception to meet the artists and view their work.”
The Arts Center is open to the public Tues-Friday from 10am-5pm and Sat. 10am to 2pm. There is no admission charge. Please call 409-384-2404 for more information.

ETAL Membership Show Winners Announced
The East Texas Art League Membership Show opened Sat Feb 13 with artist Joyce Fuller judging the entries. Fuller, who holds a BFA from Lamar University, has been involved in artwork for over 50 years. “This is an excellent show,” said Fuller. “I was impressed by the variety of high quality artwork presented and that made it an interesting exhibit to judge.”
The following artists were awarded ribbons:
Best of Show: Mary Jane Cole, collage, entitled “Something Quite Peculiar”
First Place: Jean Humphrey, pastel, entitled “Bethany”
Second Place: Stan Bohan, metal sculpture, entitled “Concealed by Nature, Found by Me”
Third Place: Annie Orchard, mixed media, entitled “Dark Man”
Honorable Mentions: Alice Powell, watercolor, entitled “Tickling the Ivories”;
Steve Crain, mixed media, entitled Chrysalis;
Danny Clements, aluminum and fiberglass, entitled Bar Series #5;
Dennis Ford, turned pecan bowl entitled “Spalted”;
Rebecca Nelson, mixed media sculpture entitled “Fly Fishman & Muse”.

ETAL Membership Show Announcement & Call for Artists
The East Texas Art League will present its 2010 Membership Show beginning with an opening reception, Saturday, Feb. 13 from 2-4pm at the East Texas Regional Arts Center, 364 North Austin St in Jasper. The public is invited to attend. The exhibit will run through March 27th. The Art League always welcomes new members and patrons. January Exhibit: "Jeanette Moyer: Retrospective"
The East Texas Art League is pleased to present a special exhibit by one of the top artists in the East Texas area: “Jeanette Moyer: Retrospective”. Moyer has been an artist for over 60 years and this exhibit will present examples of her work over the span of her creative career. "12x12" Exhibit Kicks Off ETAL Fundraiser
Shown is a painting by artist James Black. It's just one of the paintings that will be available during the holiday season at the East Texas Regional Arts Center. The East Texas Art League will kick off a special fundraising art exhibit entitled “12x12” on Friday, Nov. 20 with an invitation only reception at the East Texas Regional Arts Center, 364 N. Austin St in Jasper. The exhibit will open to the public on Saturday, Nov 21 from 10am to 2pm; and will be on view through Dec. 18th. This exhibit is underwritten by the Milam Street Gallery in Jasper and the Ampersand Art Supply Co. of Austin, TX. The Ampersand Company donated 50 special twelve inch square panels which were distributed to area artists to use in their creations. These original works of art will be available for sale and silent auction and all proceeds go to The East Texas Art League, a 501-3c non-profit organization that works to promote the arts in the East Texas area. From now until Sept 25, please stop by the Arts Center and view the work of Tommy and Jean Humphrey's talented students, ages 5-12. Under the Humphrey's guidance the students have produced high quality paintings, drawings and ceramics. This is not an ordinary "student" art show, so don't miss it!
